Ready to Rumble!

There isn't a cloud in the sky, the birds are singing, dogs and cats are frolicking, and the flowers are dancing to a jaunty little tune!
Yes!  My long awaited replacement computer has arrived!  So after a long stressful summer, working with an old slow-as-molasses computer....I am ready to rumble!
I can't wait to show you what I have been working on...although if you follow me on have seen plenty :)
I still haven't figured out how to put an Instagram link on my blog...feel free to school me on that!
Today I wanted to share with you something fun.  In the Spring, I had a quilting student, Natalie, and her sister Megan.  They took my beginners quilting class.  Natalie is a teacher, but took a 2 year leave of absence to sail the world with her husband.
Her plan was to quilt while on the sea! I am not joking! Isn't that fantastic?!
This week I received an email from Natalie and discovered she has a blog! S/V Sea Major

It's fun!  You can follow her progress {sailing} and read about their adventures!
Check it out!
And, please, come back here....I feel like I have been out of the loop for so long...but...I'm back!
happy monday...almost tuesday

My niece is having a baby boy and I have been helping her work on a mobile for the nursery....

now I am on to a quilt for the babe...

Essex yarn dyed linen is perfect for the body of the quilt....
with simple clouds of a waffle knit...appliqued...

at first I was a bit skeptical about attempting needle turn applique with a knit fabric, but it worked beautifully!  You may notice a few little 'dots' on the body of the applique...that is just basting glue and will wash out.

next to give some definition to my clouds and a bit of refreshing rain...

I love the texture....

at the end of the rain path I have added some gingham drops...

some linen thread for the quilting is on the way...

can't wait to show you the finished quilt!
happy monday!
